Kyndryl Opens “ASEAN AI Innovation Lab” in Singapore, Creating a New AI Hub for the Region!

Kyndryl (NYSE: KD), a leading provider of enterprise essential technologies, today announced the launch of its ASEAN AI Innovation Lab in Singapore. The lab will provide responsible artificial intelligence (AI) solutions with high-performance security features to organizations across Southeast Asia. The lab follows Kyndryls previous investments in the UK and France, demonstrating the companys commitment to building a regional AI talent hub, driving innovation and supporting national growth policies.

Kyndryls new ASEAN AI Innovation Lab will guide clients in implementing AI capabilities, serving as a hub for technology, software, and platform engineering solutions through Kyndryl Consult. The lab will also offer a co-creation experience with Kyndryl Vital, which helps clients address complex real-world business challenges through design-led thinking. The lab will employ approximately 50 local AI experts, including data scientists, engineers, and AI developers, and will help organisations understand and use AI technologies responsibly through use cases and demonstrations.

Kyndryl is working with Google Cloud and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) to help Singapore-based companies accelerate their AI transformation through the AI ​​Cloud Takeoff program within DISG's Enterprise Compute Initiative (ECI). Working with Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) and Singapores leading universities and research institutes, the lab will help customers instill AI skills, build reusable assets and services to future-proof their workforces and innovations. The labs AI experts will help organizations implement robust compliance, privacy and security frameworks to meet regulatory and compliance requirements, while also building energy-efficient and cost-effective AI solutions that reduce their carbon footprint and lower their processing costs.

Examples of use cases in ASEAN countries

• Hospitality: Frasers Hospitality partners with Kyndryl to enhance processes related to recording operational expertise and streamline processes. The joint solution translates training videos and adds interactive multimedia features, including multilingual capabilities, to scale to the companys global footprint.
  
• Logistics: Kyndryl uses AI to help Vietnam SuperPort automate X-ray image analysis and document validation.
  
• Employment: Quest is using AI to personalize the user experience on its gig marketplace, improving the businesss connection to job openings and local talent, leading to higher job matching and fulfillment rates.

Kyndryls recently released People Readiness Report 2025 found a stark gap between AI investments and workforce readiness, with 95% of businesses having invested in AI, yet 71% of leaders saying their workforces arent ready to successfully use the technology. However, a small group of pacesetters (14%) are seeing the benefits of AI and are aligning their workforce, technology, and growth objectives.
